Online Textbooks: Home

eBook and Online Textbook Options

Students of WITC have access to several methods of accessing eBooks and textbooks online. This page provides several helpful links for accessing these materials.


 

Permanent Access

WITC has permanent access to these ebook resources.

 

WISCAL

WISCAL provides students with access to a large selection of ebooks available to borrow, including textbooks.

To borrow a book from WISCAL:

  1. Navigate to https://wiscal.overdrive.com/.
  2. Click the Sign In box in the upper right corner of the page.
  3. Choose Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College as your library.
  4. Enter your student ID and password to complete the sign in process.
  5. Find your book of choice and click Borrow.
  6. Select the method you want to use to read your book.

 

Ebrary

ProQuest Ebook Central provides students with textbooks of a large variety of topics available online.

To borrow a book from ebrary:

  1. Navigate to WITC's collection.
  2. Search for a book you would like to read.
  3. Choose Read Online, Download Book, or Download PDF Chapter depending on your needs.

 

Temporary Access

Two course material providers have partnered with leading publishers to borrow up to 7 online textbooks - at each site - until May 24, 2020 for FREE. That is a total of 14 textbooks available to students for free. Please follow the steps below to set-up your accounts and begin borrowing books.

 

VitalSource

1. Create a VitalSource account using your WITC address: https://bookshelf.vitalsource.com.
2. Log into VitalSource with your newly created username and password. 
3. Select the "Explore" option. 
4. Enter the ISBN number of your textbook(s) & search. 
5. Confirm it’s your book and hover over the cover. Click Borrow. Then confirm by clicking Borrow again.

 

RedShelf

1. Create a RedShelf account using your WITC address: https://studentresponse.redshelf.com/.
2. Log into RedShelf with your newly created username and password. 
3. After you validate your email, click “Find a book." 
4. Enter the ISBN number of your textbook(s) & search. 
5. Confirm it’s your book and click “Add to Shelf” to start reading.
