    File Management

    The process of naming, storing, and retrieving files from your computer in an organized way is called “File Management”. Basically it’s how you name your files and folders and where you have everything saved. If your desktop is full of icons or you have trouble finding a particular file, come speak with the ETC on your campus.

    Did you know you can install all of Microsoft Office on your phone or tablet? Stop into the ETC for help downloading and using a variety of mobile applications.

    You can also access your online classes through the Blackboard Learn app.

    You can set up your WITC email right on your phone using an “Exchange” account. Check out our HelpDesk article on setting up your email on your smart device.

    Blackboard

    Blackboard is WITC’s Learning Management System or LMS. This is the system you will use to attend all of your online classes and some of your work for on-campus classes as well. 48 hours after registering your account will be created, and you’ll start to see your classes available 2 weeks before the start of the semester.

  • MyCampus and MyWITC

    MyWITC

    MyCampus and MyWITC are your login portals for accessing your online resources. MyCampus gives you access to your email, Blackboard, MyHelp, PaperCut for printing, TechSmith Relay for hosting video, and more. MyWITC gives you access to your schedule, registering for classes, and accessing your student financial account.

    BlueJeans

    BlueJeans is a video conferencing software. Your instructor can be at one campus, while you're at another but see and hear one another for class. BlueJeans also gives the flexibility for some classes to be attended from home, such as bad weather days.

    Office 365

    Office 365 is Microsoft's suit for all of their office products. Through Office 365 you have access to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and online storage through OneDrive.

    While attending WITC as a full-time student you have access to all of these products for free. Follow our MyHelp article on Installing Office 365

    You have full access to Adobe Creative Cloud on the WITC computers. This includes Photoshop, Premiere, Dreamweaver, Acrobat Pro, and more. Stop into the ETC for computers with this software installed or for any questions you have.

    Open Computer Lab

    The ETC is an open lab environment available to current students, staff, and faculty. There are computers for you to use, or there’s space for you to bring your own laptop or tablet. The computers in the lab have just about any software you’ll need for your classes.

    Open hours: During Fall and Spring semesters the ETC is staffed Monday & Wednesday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Tuesday & Thursday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, and Fridays 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. Closed during breaks.

    Classroom Software Installed

    The ETC computers are loaded with software for you to be successful in your program at WITC. The computers have everything from Microsoft Project, QuickBooks, to Adobe Illustrator. If the software you need isn’t available, just ask and we will install it

    Printers/Scanners Available: Students have access to printers (both color and black and white), copiers, and scanners. WITC utilizes a print management application called PaperCut. You can print from a school computer or from your own device. Black and white copies are $.05/page and color copies are $.25/page.

    Want to learn how to navigate your computers operating system or how to browse the Internet? Need help working with files and folders on your computer? Do you need assistance with some basic commands like cut, copy, and paste? Stop into the ETC nearest you for assistance.

    Get one on one support: Need some assistance with your Microsoft Office assignment, or need some assistance with installing software on your computer? Stop in or call and schedule an appointment with the ETC nearest you to get some one on one assistance.

    Make-up Exams

    What is a makeup exam? A make-up exam is an exam that the instructor has already administered, but the student has missed due to legitimate and/or unavoidable reasons.

    Students will need to make an appointment in the Educational Technology Center (ETC) during normal business hours or online at LearningCommons.WITC.edu/proctor, and at least 48 hours in advance. Find the contact information for your local ETC here.

    Accommodations

    To receive testing accommodations, you must have a valid accommodations card provided by the Accommodations Specialist. Student must show their accommodations card the first time he/she tests.

    Students will need to make an appointment in the Educational Technology Center (ETC) during normal business hours or online at LearningCommons.WITC.edu/proctor, and at least 48 hours in advance. Find the contact information for your local ETC here.

  • Outside the college

    Outside the college

    WITC will proctor exams from other institutions. Please contact the Educational Technology Center to make an appointment. A valid ID will be required prior to testing.

    Exam Fees: WITC charges a $15 test proctoring fee for Non-WITC students. This fee is payable in Students Services the day of the exam. Bring the receipt to the ETC to begin your exam.
